The project is the restoration and revival of the long unused Drapers’ Hall, situated in the historic Coventry city centre.. This Grade II* Listed regency building, is truly exceptional. Not only is it a remarkable survivor of both the war time bombing and post war redevelopment, but also due to diligent maintenance, it remains intact and almost unaltered from its Victorian heyday – a time capsule to the past.
Current Status: This project will conserve the historic building but also create a new outward facing extension that turns the building around and opens it up, providing welcoming easy access onto the public open space via a new-build atrium. The new-build extension also provides the capability to service the historic building to modern standards with a lift, sufficient toilets without compromising the historic fabric. A funding application is under way to secure funds from Arts Council England and others to provide a centre of musical excellence for young people and performance venue.
